  1. It is a good point how Canada is seen as an ideal place to live and everyone is looking at the good side of town not considering how some people are overlooked, neglected and discriminated against. From history we see a repeating trend of how we invade Aboriginal land and tell them we'll give them reserve to live on and then cut away from that even more. We should as a nation take action and eliminate this issue of discrimination. Racism is pointless since we are all human the conditions of our living affect who we are and since the Aboriginal people don't have standard living conditions like the majority of other Canadians they are more susceptible to crime, drugs and abuse.

    1. Right, it seems that all of our issues are local and national, and unfortunately, neglected. We focus on so many global issues, like world hunger or war overseas, but we fail to talk about the local issues that actually affect our lives personally. My next post will be about the history and it is quite horrific and depressing. I think it expresses the true discrimination there was and is and the reason behind all of these problems.

  2. Hey Esther, to begin, I really appreciated the video you posted and the fact that you put it at the very start of your blog. The video really captured my attention and mad me eager to continue reading your blog. In addition I enjoyed the persuasive language you used. Through the language I did not only here the voices of the aboriginal people but I also heard your voice and the emotions you feel towards the issue. Another reason I found your blog interesting is the fact that it ties into my issue (Vancouver's Missing women). A significant amount of the missing women from Vancouver's Downtown East Side are aboriginal women, which is the result of many issues you covered in your post. I look forward to reading more on your issue.

    1. Thank you for your compliments! I am glad that you enjoyed the post and that the voice of the Aboriginal people was present in my words. It is so important, as an outsider in the situation, to properly voice the problem while keeping the integrity of the people involved. I also noticed that we have very similar issues; they are very connected, like you mentioned. All of the issues I mention are reasons for the women becoming prostitutes or resorting to drugs to deal with all the pain and abuse they have to face. I am glad we are in the same group so I can read your blog as it ties in so well with mine.
      Thanks for the comment!
